Tel Aviv – 13 May 2013: Spacecom (Tel Aviv Stock Exchange: SCC), operator of the AMOS satellite fleet, today announced that a leading Southern African Internet technology provider has expanded and extended its contract for capacity on the AMOS-5 satellite at the prime 17°E orbital position. The agreement increases the existing client’s C-band standard and extended beam capacity, and significantly extends its contract period. Together, the additions are worth about $3.2 million.
Spacecom’s client will utilize its AMOS-5 capacity for a variety of VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminals) services and broadband backbone to further service the financial and general enterprise sectors, among others, in its Southern African region. The client also holds capacity on AMOS-5’s Ku-band beams.
“We are very happy that an existing client is satisfied with our AMOS-5 service and is extending and expanding its relationship with us. AMOS-5 provides superior Ku- and C-band coverage to support business operations throughout Africa, and this deal is a testament to that,” reported Eyal Copitt, senior vice president of salesfor Africa, Asia and marketingat Spacecom. “This deal also adds to our growing backlog as we continue to establish a bigger market for the satellite’s service capabilities.”
